In general, we coordinate our internship periods with academic schedules. Hours vary based upon graduate program requirements and student goals. Duration, number of hours, and weekly schedule are negotiable. Internship work is conducted in the Ink & Paper Group offices, though some telecommuting may be possible.
Our internships are unpaid. We provide complimentary access to publishing-industry events, conferences, trade shows in which we exhibit; book launches and readings; and participation in our educational outreach programs relevant to publishing.
As an intern with Three Muses Press or any of Ink & Paper Group's imprints, you will receive broad exposure to the inner workings of a small publishing house. Cross-training opportunities exist and exploration is encouraged. Our interns enjoy meaningful industry experience and ongoing mentorship. We recognize intern contributions on our web sites, in published materials, and in professional recommendation letters. Internships can and have led to permanent employment with us.
Internships can be tailored to individual needs and goals-yours and ours-but we will generally offer the following opportunities:
Editorial: Editorial interns will be involved in acquisitions work such as reader's reviews, acceptance and rejection letters, research, fact checking, and all phases of editing as appropriate to the intern's skill level.
Marketing and Publicity: Our primary marketing need is foundation work for individual projects and overall brand recognition. Interns will help develop marketing plans for books and ancillary products, working closely with our publisher and editors as well as Ink & Paper Group's VP of Marketing and Sales. This internship is writing intensive, but includes some design work and project management.
Design: Design interns will assist with any or all of the following: designing book covers and interiors; creating marketing materials; developing brand identity items; and enhancing our web design.
